Job Description
Dakota County Technical College is looking for a 3 year, Fixed Term, Full-Time Instructor to add to our growing, PTDI-certified program! Are you tired of long hours on the road, away from home? Dakota County Technical College offers daytime, flexible hours, work/life balance, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students each and every day.
The instructor will be responsible for the in truck instruction of the professional truck driving program, both on the truck driving range and on the road. They will be responsible for evaluating and reporting student performance and progress in the identified formats. In this position instructors will work with students at varying levels of proficiency and understanding.
Duties Include:
Maintain student engagement in a variety of settings, including: within the truck cab, on the truck driving range, and within the classroom.
Able to provide information to students through demonstration, written communication, and verbal instructions.
Complete timely and accurate student performance records.
Perform pre and post trip inspections regularly and accurately.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $43,067 - $98,660 annually
Salary placement is determined on the basis of academic credentials and professional experience and is set in accordance with the 2025 2027 MSCF Contract and is conducted by the Minnesota State System Office. Initial salary placement for new Minnesota State College faculty falls between $43,067 and $71,893, depending on academic credentials and years of creditable professional experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
A graduate of a truck driving program.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a CDL Class "A" tractor-trailer/truck driver.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
Minnesota Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and U.S. Department of Transportation Medical Certificate (DOT Health Card).
Preferred Qualification
Ability, experience and desire to use and distribute alternative instruction techniques and delivery methods through online education by developing and implementing online courses.
Ability to actively engage, motivate and demonstrate commitment to the academic needs of students in a diverse student population who have a broad range of interests and abilities.
Previous teaching experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and interest in diverse cultures and populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
