Summary This position is in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OIT), Office of Data Governance and Analytics (DGA) and reports to the Deputy Executive Director for Data Governance and Analytics, a Senior Executive Service position. Major Duties (several are performed on behalf of the VA Chief Data Officer): Oversees and coordinates VA data collections efforts through the Paperwork Reduction Act Program Provides technical and administrative supervision to staff of Data Governance and Dissemination Service Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinates Establishes performance standards and evaluates the performance of subordinates Leads the administration and management of the VA Data Governance Council, its sub-councils, and working groups Establishes schedules for planning, coordination, and accomplishment of work to facilitate the planning process Directs the development of strategic, operational, tactical plans, business cases, and policies Oversees the development of data policy and ensures compliance with data and information policies and standards Provides guidance and oversight on the management and documentation of VA's data through the Data Stewardship Program Independently monitors program performance, to identify, report, prevent and correct unsatisfactory conditions Seeks innovative ways to improve program performance and customer satisfaction Provides guidance to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director on the development and implementation of data strategy This position is non-bargaining unit eligible. Qualifications To qualify for this position, all qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement-04/12/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-15 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-14. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
