Summary The Supervisory Visual Information Specialist is assigned as the Section Chief of Medical Media, under the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing at the West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System and provides leadership in integrating the functions of the Medical Media program within the @context of a comprehensive Communications and Marketing Program. Responsibilities Serves as the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center's Section Chief of Medical Media, under the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing. In the absence of the Chief, Office of Communications and Marketing, undertakes all assignments of the position, when assigned. May serve as Public Information Officer under Hospital Incident Command System. Establishes, directs and amends policies and procedures for Medical Media to ensure Medical Media and its components are consistent with Federal, Agency and Medical Center policies. Develops goals and plans based on agency, and hospital mission, existing services, copyright standards, 0MB guidelines, National Audiovisual guidelines and controls, GPO guidelines, local policies, V ACO Academic Affairs directives, and VHA Circulars and correspondence. Examines and evaluates overall program activities to determine impact, responsiveness and efficiency. Planning, developing, implementing, and approving operations and activities of the service and program activities within Medical Media. Provides administrative guidance and leadership to Medial Media and within the Office of Strategic Communication and Marketing. Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the hospital-wide television system including both the patient and staff education channels. All programming originates from Medical Media. The program includes all satellite programming, reception and distribution. Directly supervises Medical Media staff to include but not be limited to photography, reproduction, graphic design, audiovisual production, and digital media. Provides all administrative guidance and technical direction for accomplishing the work of each position. Ensures all the work assignments of employees are prioritized and carried out. Coordinates agency information in support of outreach and public affairs programs and services. Handles media contacts for both local and national media to include congressional inquiries to the Medical Center. Prepares responses to congressional requests. Performs other duties, as assigned.
