Database Administrator

Description

Installing, configuring, and upgrading database software.

Monitoring database performance and optimizing queries to ensure efficiency.

Implementing database security protocols and managing user access.

Performing regular database backups and disaster recovery operations.

Troubleshooting and resolving database issues, including data recoverability and integrity concerns.

Collaborating with development teams to design and implement database solutions for new projects.

Ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection regulations.

Documenting database environments, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proficiency in relational database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

Strong understanding of backup strategies, recovery models, and database security practices.

Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Familiarity with scripting languages (SQL, Python, PowerShell, etc.) for automation.

Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) relevant to the database environment.

Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
