This position is located at the NC Department of Transportation Central Warehouse. Position is responsible for the daily receiving, stocking, pulling and packaging of inventoried materials for distribution and resupply to NCDOT field units. The position requires considerable thinking, analysis and judgment when comparing receipt documentation to materials delivered, proper stocking, and issuing documentation to pulled materials as well as packaging of materials for distribution. The work environment is an un-air-conditioned warehouse. The position is exposed to heat, cold and dust. The position requires physical effort as found in normal warehouse operations when manually handling materials of various sizes and weights. Forklift operation is a requirement of this position. Position may require overtime during adverse weather conditions to ensure NCDOT field units are supplied. Assist with annual physical inventory preparation and actual counting of inventory. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Management prefers applicants with the following:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and to work with vendors and other NCDOT personnel.
Demonstrated ability to read and understand internal purchase requisitions and external vendor invoices.
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing and email (Outlook) to internal and external customers as well as warehouse management and personnel.
Experience operating various @types of forklifts such as sit down and stand-up lifts.
Knowledge of inventory management and the operation of central inventory.
Additional Expectations:
Must be able to legally operate a state vehicle.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
