Salary: $90,000-$110,000
The Senior APU Manufacturing Planner is responsible for developing , coordinating , and maintaining production schedules for an assigned Autonomous Production Unit (APU). This position plays a key role in ensuring production activities remain aligned with customer commitments, identifying potential delivery risks, and taking action to keep orders moving on schedule.
The planner will monitor the flow of work throughout the assigned manufacturing area, coordinate material and order movement, communicate customer delivery and shipment dates, and manage outside processing activities. The role will also monitor and adjust MRP planning parameters to support efficient production flow, inventory management, and on-time delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules that support committed customer ship dates using appropriate planning strategies, including MRP, Kanban, and other scheduling methods.
Release and monitor manufacturing orders while expediting materials and production activities as necessary to maintain established delivery schedules.
Partner with APU team members and other departments to identify current or potential production issues and develop effective solutions.
Communicate accurate customer order delivery dates and planned shipment dates to support reliable backlog and financial shipment projections.
Identify risks that may affect customer commitments or revenue objectives and develop recommendations and action plans to mitigate those risks .
Collaborate with APU personnel to improve equipment and facility utilization, product quality, production flow, and overall operational performance.
Assist with inventory management by monitoring shop orders, inventory levels, and assigned materials to ensure established objectives are achieved.
Evaluate the scheduling and production impact of New Product Development activities and Engineering Change Orders, and execute or monitor required actions.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support LEAP principles through improved planning methods, ERP utilization, and MRP process optimization.
Monitor and coordinate the movement of products through outside processing and services to support on-time customer delivery.
Adjust MRP scheduling parameters as needed to optimize production flow and improve planning accuracy.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
At least 5 years of manufacturing planning experience using an ERP-based planning system.
Strong PC skills within a Windows-based environment.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including linked spreadsheets, PivotTables, and VLOOKUP functions.
Ability to effectively navigate web-based and internet-based order management systems.
Demonstrated ability to analyze production challenges, adapt to changing priorities, and improve the performance of an APU or manufacturing department.
Advanced education in Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced analytical skills with experience using data to identify problems, determine root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
LEAN/Six Sigma Black Belt certification with at least two years of manufacturing experience applying continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience optimizing ERP/MRP planning processes and developing data-driven manufacturing solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in a precision machining or high-precision manufacturing environment.
Experience working within an ISO-regulated and/or medical device manufacturing environment.
LEAN and/or Six Sigma training with demonstrated practical application in manufacturing.
APICS coursework toward CPIM or CIRM certification.
