Brief Job Description

This position comes with a tuition scholarship that will cover up to 9 credits of tuition per semester at the in-state rate.

Position Overview:

The Graduate Assistant for Student Leadership and Engagement will play a vital role in supporting Fraternity and Sorority Life ( FSL ), student organizations, and campus-wide programming at Buffalo State University. This position is designed for a graduate student who will assist the Coordinator for Student Leadership and Engagement in advising and supporting FSL and registered student organizations, planning and implementing campus programs, and supporting major engagement initiatives. The role involves detailed planning, effective and strong communication skills, and organizational support to enhance the overall student life experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Fraternity and Sorority Life Support:

Assist in the development and maintenance of the yearly recruitment calendar, including scheduling mandatory new member training, national hazing prevention week, and more.

Serve as a liaison for communication between FSL presidents, members, alumni, and advisers.

Student Organization Advising and Support:

Maintain and update the primary contact sheets under the guidance of the coordinator.

Support compliance efforts including roster collection, documentation review, and Bengal Connect updates.

Campus Programming and Engagement:

Assist with the planning and execution of campus-wide programs, leadership events, and engagement initiatives.

Support signature events sponsored by Student Leadership and Engagement.

Assist with marketing and promotion of events through social media, tabling, and creating and posting flyers.

Work occasional evenings and weekends to support programming needs.

Required Qualifications

Current or entering full-time (6 credit hours) matriculated graduate student at Buffalo State University.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong communication skills and have the ability to work with a diverse student population in a high-energy, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in event planning, programming, supervising, and/or facility operations.
