Brief Job Description

This position comes with a tuition scholarship that will cover up to 9 credits of tuition per semester at the in-state rate.

Position Overview:

Student Leadership and Engagement at Buffalo State offers a Graduate Assistantship for Union Operations to support the daily operations and facilities of the Campbell Student Union. The position will have the opportunity to gain skills in the areas of facilities management, student development and supervision, event logistics, and event support. The role involves attention to detail, effective communication, and adaptation to support the student leaders and operations of the Campbell Student Union.

Key Responsibilities

Building Operations:

Assist the Coordinator in the daily operations of the Campbell Student Union, including room setups/teardowns, Bengal Pause tabling, the posting of flyers/marketing materials in the building, and communicating given tasks to student leaders

Serve as one of the primary technical consultants to support the AV systems for the Campbell Student Union through exemplary customer service, attention to detail, and professionalism

Assist with locating and submitting work orders within the building to our facilities and maintenance department

Student Leader Supervision:

Assist with the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of student leaders to ensure that a high quality of customer service and building management is maintained

Act as the direct supervisor for all student leaders communicating needed tasks and duties while also answering any inquiries or questions

Assist with the creation and implementation of the student leader scheduling blocks and posting needed setup/breakdown shifts

Distribute all needed materials and apparel to newly hired student leaders during onboarding

Assessment and Documentation:

Assist with the assessment of student leader satisfaction/development, operations, facilities, and space usage associated with the Campbell Student Union

Assist in filing all the student leader hiring, accountability, and one-on-one documents into individual student leader files

Other Duties:

Assist and be present for major Student Leadership and Engagement programs and initiatives throughout the academic year

Will require occasional evening and weekend responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Current or entering full-time (6 credit hours) matriculated graduate student at Buffalo State University.

The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong communication skills and have the ability to work with a diverse student population in a high-energy, multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in event planning, programming, supervising, and/or facility operations.
