This position exists to manage the Credentials professional transportation program which provides operating authority to certain motor carriers, medical waivers to drivers with certain physical issues, variances of a state regulation as requested by a motor carrier applicant and the certification of the Special Transportation Services (STS) education trainers. This position also exists to supervise professional and technical employees in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and ensure program staff effectively perform assigned job duties. Additionally, this position exists to serve on the section-level and office-level management teams to develop and recommend policies, goals, and objectives to MnDOT management.

MnDOT does not sponsor applicants for visas or Optional Practical Exam for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of professional supervisory (supervising professional employees) experience in the areas noted below; OR, Four years (4) of advanced professional experience in the areas noted below:

NOTE: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Education, Communications, Criminal Justice, Psychology/Sociology substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience.

Experience must demonstrate

Experience with federal and state laws and rules governing motor carriers, shippers and transporters of hazardous materials and hazardous waste and other transporters of goods or people regulated by the Office of Motor Carrier Services;

Experience interpreting state, federal, and local statutes, and policies sufficient to analyze, consult and determine appropriate decisions.

Experience reviewing civil justice system data sufficient to gather and document evidence in response to appeals requested for action taken against a carriers permit to do business, for medical waivers that are denied or rescinded; or for variances that are denied or rescinded;

Experience with policy review and consultation sufficient to recommend changes, develop and implement policies, guidelines, rules, standards and procedures;

Experience as a leader on projects where you have motivated other team members, persuaded them to complete project assignments and monitored project work tasks
