Hourly Rate: $16.90/hour
Location: Multiple Locations (This position is assigned to various recreation centers to support summer camps)
Work Week Schedule: 15-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday shifts between 7:30 am - 6:00 pm with some evenings/weekends.
Position responsible for assisting with leading and teaching participants in a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Expertise is diverse and not specialized to any single discipline. Incumbent follows a prescribed activity schedule, instructs group activities, provides continuous supervision, facilitates special projects with participants, and provides behavior management. Position requires incumbent to be able to actively participate
Responsibilities include reporting participants' issues, program supply needs, and contributing to daily updates with fellow staff and supervisors.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assists in organizing youth and adult sports, games and activities, arts and crafts, music and drama, and other recreational activities.
Maintains order and discipline, issues and collects equipment.
Acts as a role model for participants, fellow staff and volunteers.
Assists in planning and conducting special events and projects and encourages volunteer participation.
Assists with program set up and housekeeping tasks as needed.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service training programs, orientations, and evaluation sessions.
Completes evaluation forms at the end of the program.
When assigned to Care Programs:
-Performs duties in the setting of Summer Camp, Intersession, Fun Days, and After School programs.
-Assists in leading games, activity projects, and recreational activities for children.
-Greets and checks-in program participants at bus stop/drop-off location at a recreation center, providing them with safe movement to the program.
Engages individually with youth participants to encourage successful and rewarding participation in activities.
-Assists with behavior management by adjusting activities and documenting behavior issues.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
-Child development.
-Basic arts and crafts.
-Elementary math, science, writing, etc.
SKILLED IN:
Interacting with children.
-Organizing and actively facilitating a variety of recreational and social activities.
Communicating instructions effectively to individuals and groups.
Adhering to program standards and objectives.
Following directions and completing assigned tasks.
Exhibiting character, integrity, and adaptability.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Requires the ability to read, write and follow directions.
Must be at least 16 years of age.

Available for at least 7 out of 8 weeks from June 22, 2026, through August 14, 202,6 for Summer Camp Programming
Available to work at least 15 hours per week between 7:30 am - 6:00 pm Monday - Frida,y and some evenings and weekends.

Work is typically performed in indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
