Job Title: Electrical Designer
Job Description
The Electrical Designer collaborates closely with Electrical Drafters, Controls Engineers, and leadership to design and detail new and existing equipment for both custom and standard products, ensuring that all systems are fully functional and aligned with company standards.
Responsibilities
Detail electrical sensors for conveyors and related equipment using established company standards and guidance from engineers and management.
Produce accurate wiring diagrams, panel layouts, electrical assemblies, and arrangement drawings required for cable fabrication.
Assist in maintaining project schedules by communicating effectively with team members, prioritizing tasks, and resolving issues as they arise.
Apply technical skills and engineering principles to solve design problems and improve system performance.
Complete assigned design tasks within the allotted timeframe with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality and accuracy.
Identify required purchased materials and prepare purchase requisitions to support project execution.
Collaborate with peers in electrical engineering and drafting to ensure consistent design practices and documentation.
Support commissioning efforts as needed, including travel to customer sites to assist with system startup and validation.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2 years of electrical design experience, including work with Allen-Bradley hardware or systems.
Associate degree (AS) or Bachelor's Degree (BS) in a Drafting or Engineering discipline and 1+ years of relevant experience.
Experience using SolidWorks for design and detailing; school training is acceptable.
Experience using AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design and documentation; school training is acceptable.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products for documentation, communication, and reporting.
Ability to complete design assignments independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply technical knowledge to resolve design challenges.
Effective communication skills to work closely with engineers, drafters, and management.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Allen-Bradley-based control systems in industrial environments.
Previous experience traveling and participating in commissioning efforts at customer sites.
Willingness to learn about food processing equipment and related design requirements; training will be provided.
Interest in or exposure to sanitary design principles; sanitary design knowledge or experience is preferred, and training will be provided.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of an electrical engineering team with multiple peers.
Flexibility to support project and commissioning needs, including periodic extended travel.
Work Environment
The Electrical Designer works within an electrical engineering team, reporting into the electrical engineering leadership structure and collaborating with approximately three peer designers or engineers. The role involves a mix of office-based design work using tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electrical, and Microsoft Office, and field-based work supporting commissioning activities. The position requires approximately 20% overnight travel, shared on a rotating basis with team peers. Some trips may last up to two weeks, approximately once every other month, to support installation and commissioning of equipment, including food processing systems and related sanitary designs. The environment emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and close collaboration with engineering and drafting professionals to deliver high-quality, functional equipment designs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
