Medical Assistant

Pay Rate: $ 24.34/hour

Location: New York, NY 10016

Assignment End Date: December 31, 2026

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5 days per week

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to support physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, and patients in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a proactive, team-oriented approach to patient care.

Top Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing quality patient care and supporting clinical staff with daily patient care activities. Responsibilities include:

Demonstrates clinical competence in the direct care of patients within established areas of practice and assists physicians with procedures.

Performs clinical duties within the scope of practice while adhering to organizational and departmental standards, policies, and protocols.

Provides proactive patient care, addressing individual patient and family needs and communicating concerns to the appropriate provider or nursing staff in a timely manner.

Escorts and directs patients to examination rooms efficiently.

Assists physicians, mid-level providers, and nurses during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.

Performs authorized clinical procedures, including:

Taking and documenting vital signs.

Performing vision screenings.

Performing selected laboratory testing.

Performing phlebotomy.

Seeks guidance from providers and nursing staff when appropriate.

Prepares e-prescriptions for physician review and processing in accordance with organizational policies.

Cleans, prepares, inspects, and processes medical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer and organizational guidelines.

Processes laboratory specimens, ensuring proper labeling and that appropriate orders have been entered into Epic.

Supports efficient patient flow and maintains a professional, patient-focused environment.

Communicates relevant patient information and concerns accurately and promptly to physicians, providers, nurses, and other appropriate clinical staff.

Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure patients receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care.

Adapts to changing priorities, patient needs, and unexpected situations throughout the workday.

May travel between clinic locations during the workday when coverage needs require additional support.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting.

Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience .

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification .

Ability to perform clinical duties within the appropriate scope of practice.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Strong commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professionalism.

Certification Required

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification

Work Schedule

Monday-Thursday: 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM

Friday: 7:45 AM - 4:00 PM

Work Days: 5 days per week

Travel Requirements

Travel may be required to provide coverage at other clinic locations as needed.

Coverage needs may require the Medical Assistant to travel between more than one clinic location during the same workday or work shift.

Patient home visits: No.

Dress Code

Solid-color scrubs are preferred.

Preferred scrub colors: Navy Blue or Black.

Interview Process

An in-person interview is preferred . Virtual interviews are also acceptable.

Pay Details: $24.34 per hour
