Position Description
TheInterior Design Program (https://www.fcs.txst.edu/undergraduate-programs/interior-design.html) at Texas State University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Instruction. The successful candidate will have a strong background in design technologies and be highly proficient in integrating cutting-edge digital tools, software, and workflows into interior design education and professional practice. This is a 9-month renewable appointment with the possibility of summer teaching. As a part of theSchool of Family and Consumer Sciences (https://www.fcs.txst.edu/) , the Interior Design program enrolls approximately 500 majors with 17 full-time faculty members serving the program. Graduates from our Council for Interior Design Accreditation ( CIDA ) accredited interior design program are qualified for careers helping others improve interior environments while expressing their own creative abilities. Graduates are academically prepared to take the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) examination that must be passed to register as an interior designer in Texas and many other states. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, supervising design projects and portfolio development, developing and revising curriculum to meet accreditation standards and engaging in appropriate levels of service to the school, college and to the profession.
Required Qualifications
A bachelor's degree (or the equivalent) in interior design or related design field.
College-level teaching experience in interior design or related discipline.
Demonstrated proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketch-up.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in interior design or a related design field (e.g., MS, MFA , MID , M Arch, etc.).
Ability to teach interior design studios and lectures implementing VR or AR components.
Professional or academic experience with advanced design technologies, digital visualization, or related areas.
Active involvement in relevant professional organizations (e.g., ASID , IIDA , IDEC , AIA , NKBA , or NEWH ).
