Job Title: Manufacturing Test EngineerJob Description
This role combines manufacturing engineering and test engineering to support the planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing processes for aerospace products. The Manufacturing Test Engineer designs and implements test fixtures and test plans, conducts environmental testing, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost and enhance product performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate manufacturing processes to ensure products move efficiently from design through production and test.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to blend manufacturing and test engineering activities into a cohesive workflow.
Design, develop, and maintain test fixtures that support production and environmental testing requirements.
Create detailed test plans and test documentation to ensure repeatable, reliable test execution and clear traceability.
Perform environmental testing, including thermal vacuum (TVAC), shock, and vibration testing, in accordance with aerospace standards and internal procedures.
Analyze test results, identify issues, and work with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement corrective actions.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manufacturing and test costs while improving product quality and reliability.
Contribute to the development and refinement of manufacturing and test processes as the organization scales to larger platforms and satellite constellations.
Ensure all test activities adhere to internal quality standards and applicable aerospace industry requirements.
Communicate clearly and proactively with team members in a highly transparent, collaborative environment.
Essential Skills
Experience in manufacturing engineering with a focus on production processes and process planning.
Experience in test engineering, including the design and execution of test procedures and test plans.
Hands-on experience with environmental testing such as thermal vacuum (TVAC), shock, and vibration testing.
Background in aerospace products or systems, with aerospace experience preferred.
Ability to design and develop test fixtures for mechanical and electromechanical assemblies.
Strong documentation skills for creating and maintaining test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
Capability to support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction and product performance enhancement.
Effective communication skills and comfort working in a highly transparent, collaborative culture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with deployable systems such as solar arrays and antennas for satellites.
Familiarity with rotating mechanical assemblies and mechanisms that deploy in space (e.g., umbrella-like structures and membrane substrates).
Exposure to small, agile aerospace organizations or fast-growing engineering environments.
Ability to adapt to scaling operations, including supporting transitions from smaller platforms to larger platforms and satellite constellations.
Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing environment that integrates office space with on-site manufacturing facilities. You will work in a hands-on setting with aerospace hardware, including deployable systems such as solar arrays and antennas for satellites, as well as rotating mechanical assemblies and membrane-based structures. The organization operates as a small, agile aerospace company in a growth phase, expanding from cubesats to larger platforms and full satellite constellations. The culture emphasizes open communication, transparency, and collaboration, with a strong expectation that team members stay engaged and accountable.
