Job Description:

Responsible for providing in-house assistance to general legal services and assistance as requested by the Assistant General Counsel and the Vice President/General Counsel. Assists with the negotiating, drafting, and performing legal review or preparation of contracts and other miscellaneous legal documents. Performs varied legal research and also attend meetings, seminars and functions as requested.

Note:

There is one position available and the position will be filled at one of four job grade levels: Associate Attorney, job grade 9; Attorney, job grade 10; Staff Attorney, job grade 12; or Senior Attorney, job grade 15. This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected, and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Hiring Salary Range: $189,000-246,000

Staff Attorney

Hiring Salary Range: $135,000-$175,000

Attorney

Hiring Salary Range: $109,000-139,000

Associate Attorney

Hiring Salary Range: $98,000-$124,000

Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Responsibilities:

Assist with the negotiating, drafting, and performing legal review or preparation of contracts and other miscellaneous legal documents.

Assist with providing legal assistance to the various functional areas of Tri-State in matters pertaining to the Association's general business and utility activities.

Perform varied legal research and also attend meetings, seminars and functions as requested.

Adhere to company policies, programs and procedures as well as Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Corporation (NERC), Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) standards and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations.

Safety: Maintain safety awareness and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures to assure a safe working environment. Properly wear and care for applicable safety gear and equipment. Identify and communicate unsafe conditions to supervisor, coworkers, and the Safety functional area and correct or assist in resolving safety concerns and issues. Must understand and comply with the Clearance Procedure as applicable.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to organize and apply legal concepts and principles.

Ability to interpret, analyze and prepare contract documents.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Other:

Must be admitted to practice law in Colorado within one year from date of employment.

Willingness to travel as required. (Must possess a valid driver's license.)

Utility experience, desired.

Must be able to demonstrate that he/she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
