What you'll be doing
Join CIBC's Capital Markets team as an Executive Director, Cash Equities, where you'll play a key role in expanding our Institutional Equities presence in the US market. As part of a dynamic and growing team, you'll cover US cash accounts trading Canadian equities, prospect for and open new US accounts, and help shape the identity of CIBC in the US market for northbound flow. You'll be responsible for cross-selling CIBC products, and acting as a business analyst to support the development and enhancement of our trading products. Your strong relationships with US accounts and ability to generate trading ideas based on research and desk insights will be essential. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute strategically to the direction of the Equity desk, and leverage AI tools to drive performance.

How you'll succeed
Client Coverage & Relationship Management - Cover US cash accounts trading Canadian equities, build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, and prospect for new US accounts.
Business Development - Identify and open new US accounts, cross-sell CIBC products, and find innovative ways to institutionalize CIBC within client segments.
Strategic Contribution - Help create an identity for CIBC in the US market for northbound flow and contribute to the strategic direction of the Equity desk, especially in an AI-enhanced environment.
Trading Execution & Risk Management - An ability to trade different styles such as risk-arbitrage and special situations, traditional cash/block trading and generate trading ideas based on research sales input and desk color.
Product Development & Integration - Act as a business analyst for technology, supporting the development and enhancement of trading products, and collaborate closely with the Program Trading Team.
Innovation & Analytics - Leverage generative AI, Bloomberg, EMS & OMS platforms, and analytical tools such as Excel, Python, and Tableau to drive insights and performance.
Who you are
You have deep industry experience. You bring at least 8 years of experience in institutional equities, with a proven track record covering US accounts trading Canadian equities.
You're a relationship builder. You have strong, established relationships with US institutional clients and excel at building trust and credibility.
You're a strategic thinker. You contribute to the broader direction of the Equity desk and understand how to position CIBC for growth in the US market.
You're technically adept . You have hands-on experience with generative AI, Bloomberg, EMS & OMS platforms, and are comfortable using Excel; experience with Python and Tableau is an asset.
You're collaborative and adaptive. You thrive in a team environment, integrate seamlessly with program trading teams, and adapt quickly to evolving business needs.
You have a strong educational foundation. You hold a Bachelor's degree in STEM, Business, Economics, or Philosophy; an MBA, MSc, or CFA designation (considered an asset)

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary of $275,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee's needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
