Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Crane Control Systems
Job Description
This role focuses on engineered modernizations for electric overhead and portal cranes, leading all electrical design activities, hardware selection, control program development, and implementation of crane control systems across the Americas region. You will design and commission modern crane control solutions, support projects from inquiry through start-up, and contribute to a stable, long-term workload in a growing organization.
Responsibilities
Design, test, and commission crane control systems for electric overhead and portal cranes, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Perform engineering tasks using established procedures, including component selection, schematic design, system layout, automation control programming, and system documentation.
Generate complete system architecture and automation network drawings for crane control projects.
Select and specify electrical components and hardware for control panels and power systems.
Develop and review electrical schematics and ensure they align with project requirements and industry standards.
Plan and schedule projects from inquiry through start-up, including design execution and performance to budget.
Support testing and troubleshooting of crane control systems, including motor control circuits and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Collaborate with other engineers and project stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of engineered solutions.
Participate in site visits for application review and commissioning, including work at heights when required.
Maintain thorough and accurate system documentation, including drawings, configurations, and test records.
Apply knowledge of legacy, EOT, and portal crane product lines to modernize and upgrade existing systems.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
At least 2 years of experience designing and troubleshooting motor control circuits utilizing electromagnetic devices and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and vendor application drawings.
Knowledge of PLC programming software, with the ability to work within PLC environments even if not responsible for writing full programs.
Working knowledge of a wide variety of software packages, operating systems, and control equipment used in industrial automation.
Experience with panel design, industrial automation, power distribution, and control systems.
Ability to perform testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical control systems.
Capability to work at heights up to approximately 100 feet off the ground during occasional site visits.
Strong understanding of motor control, electrical circuits, and variable frequency drive applications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with legacy, EOT (electric overhead traveling), and portal crane product lines.
Experience generating system architecture and automation network drawings.
Background in project planning, scheduling, and executing designs to meet budget and timeline targets.
Experience working within structured engineering procedures and documentation standards.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation.
Effective collaboration skills for working within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Work Environment
The role is primarily office-based in a cubicle environment within an engineering office. You will work closely with a direct team of approximately 15 engineers, including both electrical and mechanical engineers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. The organization offers a stable workload with a long-term backlog of projects, providing consistent and ongoing engineering challenges. Occasional site visits are required for application review and commissioning, which may involve working at heights up to about 100 feet, typically around once per year.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $58.00/hr.
