The opportunity:

We are looking for a Team Lead, Logistics who will be responsible for all logistics driving towards high service at the lowest costs. The ideal person will provide effective coordination and execution of inbound and outbound freight movements for external customer, internal customer, and supplier shipments. The position will achieve favorable results through leading their assigned region\u2019s daily management system, team member connectivity, and cross-functional collaboration.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Responsible for the daily execution of inbound/outbound shipments for selected facilities and suppliers

Responsible for achieving all fiscal year financial and performance goals and objectives.

Manage transportation events to ensure manufacturing, supplier, and customer satisfaction.

Responsible for weekly service metric review for selected facilities; including cost, on-time performance, route guide compliance, carrier capacity, spot shipment performance, etc.

Ensure carrier receipt and response of daily load tenders.

Perform daily outbound and inbound load tendering process.

Track loads and hold carriers accountable to on-time pick-up and delivery.

Communicate frequently with internal / external customers and carriers.

Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities.

Manage carrier trailer pools at selected facilities and suppliers.

Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives, supporting root\u2011cause analysis and evaluating effectiveness of implemented solutions.

Lead key waste function initiatives to drive out costs.

Establish best practices for the team by building documented and effective processes (SOP\u2019s).

Coach and mentor, all team members for growth and development.

Monitor Key Process Indicator (KPI) metrics; Recognize and drive improvement opportunities.

Ensure new team members successfully integrate into their new role through mentorship.

Support all team members through daily activities, escalations, and roadblocks as they arise.

Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal business partners.

Serve as a back up to managers.

What you need to succeed:

Bachelor\u2019s degree from a four-year college or university required.

Minimum of 2 years related work experience in Supply Chain

Must possess industry knowledge and terminology, effective communication, and analytical skills with the ability to quickly analyze problem situations and make fact-based decisions.

Proficient in Microsoft Office; expertise in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Strong problem solving, decision making, critical thinking, and negotiations skills.

Ability to set priorities, achieve deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at the same time.

Accuracy and attention to detail

Task oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Through understanding of transportation modes and solutions

Work well under pressure; possesses the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to participate in or lead project teams.

Familiar with Routing and Scheduling software

Transportation Management System experience required (Preferably, Oracle Transportation Management)
