At Delta Air Lines, Quality Engineering is evolving from traditional testing into an intelligent, predictive, and highly automated capability that accelerates innovation across the enterprise. We are seeking a forward-thinking leader to transform and scale our Quality Engineering organization through AI-driven automation, modern engineering practices, and operational excellence.
As the IT Manager - Quality Engineering & AI-Driven Test Automation, you will lead the strategy, architecture, and execution of enterprise-wide intelligent testing solutions that improve software reliability, reduce operational costs, and accelerate delivery across digital platforms. This role combines technical depth, organizational leadership, innovation, and strategic influence.
You will partner closely with engineering, product, DevOps, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture teams to embed quality throughout the Product Development Lifecycle while leveraging AI-powered capabilities to modernize testing operations.
What You'll Do
Enterprise Quality Engineering Strategy
Define and execute a multi-year Quality Engineering and intelligent automation strategy aligned with enterprise technology objectives.
Drive the evolution from manual QA practices to scalable, AI-assisted quality engineering platforms.
Establish governance, standards, KPIs, and maturity models for automation, test data, environments, and release quality.
AI-Driven Testing & Innovation
Champion the adoption of AI-powered testing solutions, including test agents, self-healing automation, intelligent defect prediction, autonomous test generation, and AI-assisted root cause analysis.
Leverage enterprise AI platforms and Amazon technologies, including Amazon Q and Kiro with MCPs, to improve engineering productivity and test efficiency.
Evaluate emerging technologies and continuously modernize testing capabilities to maintain industry-leading practices.
Automation Architecture & Engineering Excellence
Lead the design and implementation of scalable, reusable automation frameworks across UI, API, mobile, integration, and data layers using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, and Cucumber.
Ensure automation solutions are resilient, maintainable, secure, and optimized for enterprise-scale delivery.
Drive shift-left quality practices, including service virtualization, contract testing, synthetic monitoring, and continuous testing.
DevSecOps & Continuous Quality
Integrate automated testing seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native DevOps tooling.
Enable rapid and reliable releases through continuous quality validation, automated regression, and risk-based testing strategies.
Partner with cybersecurity and platform engineering teams to ensure compliance, resiliency, and secure development practices.
Leadership & Organizational Development
Build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Develop technical talent through coaching, career development, and modern engineering practices.
Foster a culture that encourages experimentation, collaboration, learning, and operational excellence.
Data-Driven Quality Management
Establish and track key engineering metrics, including automation effectiveness, defect escape rate, deployment confidence, release health, and ROI.
Use analytics and AI-driven insights to identify bottlenecks, optimize workflows, and improve quality outcomes.
Present strategic updates, roadmap progress, and operational insights to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner across business and technology organizations to align quality strategies with enterprise priorities.
Influence architecture, engineering, and delivery decisions to ensure quality is embedded throughout the product lifecycle.
Serve as a trusted advisor and change agent in advancing modern Quality Engineering practices.
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, or Test Automation with progressive leadership responsibilities.
Strong expertise in modern automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and Cucumber.
Strong programming and scripting experience relevant to automation frameworks.
Experience implementing automated testing in CI/CD and DevSecOps environments (GitHub Actions, GitLab or similar).
Experience designing and scaling enterprise automation architectures across distributed systems.
Knowledge of cloud-native testing approaches and AWS technologies.
Experience leveraging AI-enabled testing and modern engineering productivity tools.

Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in theUnited States.
