About this Opportunity
Washington Athletics seeks an innovative and forward-thinking leader to serve as Associate Athletic Director for Applied Intelligence. This role will architect and lead a comprehensive applied intelligence program that positions Washington as the premier program in the Big Ten Conference and a national model for integrating artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and data science into collegiate athletics.
This position will drive competitive advantage across all sports while elevating the student-athlete experience and strengthening recruiting by showcasing Washington as a destination for innovation, development, and future-ready preparation. The Associate Athletic Director for Applied Intelligence will be central to building a sustainable competitive edge-enhancing performance, informing strategic investments, and elevating the University of Washington's brand as one of the most innovative and forward-looking programs in college athletics.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute a department-wide applied intelligence strategy that establishes ICA as a nationally recognized innovator in athletics analytics and AI.
Team Leadership & Program Development
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of analysts, data scientists, and technologists.
Lead a team focused on designing and implementing an ICA-wide AI "sandbox" to test, validate, and deploy emerging tools and technologies.
Business Intelligence & Resource Strategy
Oversee the buildout and development of a data analytics and business intelligence team.
Position ICA as a cutting-edge, athlete-centric program leveraging AI for individualized development and competitive success.
Recruiting, Roster Strategy & Athlete Development
Game Strategy, Scouting & Performance Analytics
Collaboration & External Engagement
Required Qualifications

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department.
Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, analytics, statistics, sports management, or related field.
Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive experience in analytics, applied intelligence, or related fields, including leadership experience.
Additional Qualifications
Demonstrated success applying analytics in high-performance or competitive environments.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and complex initiatives.
Strong knowledge of AI/ML tools, data systems, and analytics platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in data science or a related field.
Experience in Big Ten, Power Five, or professional sports environments.
Familiarity with NCAA regulations, recruiting landscapes, and transfer portal dynamics.
Experience building or scaling an analytics, AI, or business intelligence function.
Experience with video analytics, player tracking technologies, and performance systems.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$175,008.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$184,992.00 annual
Other Compensation:
Taxable benefits include participation in the ICA Courtesy Car Program, athletic equipment/apparel allowance, and tickets to the UW intercollegiate home competitions. Non-local candidates may be eligible for a moving allowance.
