POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Academic Advisor PACK Program

Eastern Illinois University is seeking an Academic Advisor for the PACK Program. The Academic Advisor is responsible for advising students assigned to the Academic Advising Services in the areas of curricula, career opportunities, and academic development. The advisor must be well informed of the Universitys academic curriculum, regulations, policies, procedures, and university resources. The advisor has a direct line relationship with the Director, Academic Advising Services.

Classification: Academic Support Professional (ASP)

Employment: Full-time, per Article 6.2.a.(1) of the UPI Agreement; flexible work schedule averaging 37.5 hours per week

Salary Range (dependent on experience): \$3343.00-\$3400.00

Our focus in the PACK program is to provide students with individualized attention during their first year at Eastern. We believe that students who may not have the standard academic credentials can find a pathway to success. Our team of academic advisors, along with the Academic Success Center, are dedicated to helping students develop the skills necessary to graduate from EIU.

The Academic Advisor for the PACK program is a key member of the Academic Advising Services team, serving as the primary point of contact for provisionally admitted students as they navigate their transition to university life. This position is grounded in an asset-based, relationship-rich approach to student supportrecognizing that every student brings strengths, and that the institutions role is to build confidence, belonging, and self-efficacy from the very first interaction.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities

PACK Academic Advising (80%)

Conduct ongoing outreach and hold recurring appointments with PACK students to build sustained, trust-based advising relationships.
Collaborate with students to set educational, personal, and career goals, considering both immediate academic needs and long-range objectives.
Advise PACK students in educational planning for upcoming semesters, in person and/or virtually.
Assist students in course selection as it relates to General Education requirements, the academic program, and the educational goals of each student.
Assist students in exploring their major and/or minor by interpreting printed or web information, making referrals to other campus offices or programs, recommending extra class activities, internships, or part-time work experiences to clarify their options of prospective majors/minors.
