Leads efforts to reduce costs and improve service and quality through comprehensive supplier sourcing, management and relationship practices. As a manager of Supplier Relationships, you will...
Lead by setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together
Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
Lead or participate in supplier contract negotiation and execution
Support the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of the Company
Develop strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results
Contribute to defining best practices and developing the framework to deliver leading edge sourcing, supplier selection, contracting and supplier performance measurement programs in support of business strategies and plans. Develops and implements processes and procedures to actively manage the supplier relationship through its life cycle
Develop Service Level Agreements and methods to monitor performance. Monitors supplier performance against established Key Performance Indicators and compliance with other contract requirements, and provides management reports
Identify synergies within existing supplier services, researches industry trends in products and services, and identifies viable new sources of supply
Initiate and conduct formal business and performance reviews with supplier and company leadership to set strategic direction and establish potential development opportunities
Lead review of supplier options and costs for similar products and services, establishing a standard process to evaluate and measure award criteria. Provide standards for the team and guidance in development of project statement of work, supplier contract negotiation strategy, contract review and execution
Plan and manage business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives
Prepare, communicate and educate client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization
Act as interface within Starbucks to ensure effective communication with cross functional groups, project managers and business unit leadership relative to supplier relationships, business requirements, direction and strategy
Consult with department leadership to identify needs for improved and expanded supplier performance
Identify opportunities to increase customer satisfaction, product quality, and efficiency, and to improve processes and reduce costs relative to supplier relationships
Manage new and ongoing key supplier relationships, promoting best practices in performance and cost management.
Participate on project teams representing Starbucks to suppliers
Serve as point person between internal business owner and suppliers, and lead efforts to resolve performance anomalies or exceptions.
Provide partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams
Challenge and inspire partners to achieve business results
Conduct and ensure the completion of performance reviews
Ensure partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
Oversee training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions
Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results
Teach and mentor Starbucks partners on supplier management roles and processes.

Bachelor's degree or significant relevant experience
7 years - Contract management
7 years - Financial analysis, modeling and business planning
7 years - Managing multiple functions in a dynamic, high-growth organization, including strategic alliance development, supplier management and performance assessment
7 years - Operations, sourcing and procurement experience in a retail, food, high-tech or information technology industry
7 years - Developing and implementing leading edge policies and processes
5 years - Developing sourcing requirements and strategies based on business requirements
5 years - Leading key sourcing activities and supplier performance programs

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
