The Legislative & Engagement Coordinator leads the Council's efforts to advance policy through legislative advocacy, public engagement, and cross-sector collaboration. This position tracks and responds to legislation impacting LGBTQIA2S+ Minnesotans, develops and promotes the Council's policy agenda, and fosters strong relationships with both state leaders and community stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience in legislative affairs, public policy, community engagement, or a related field, preferably with a focus on LGBTQIA2S+ issues.

Understanding of LGBTQIA2S+ communities, including intersecting identities and the policy issues affecting them.

Ability to track, analyze, and respond to legislation, and to develop accessible, compelling policy materials.

Experience coordinating public engagement efforts, including events, listening sessions, public comment processes, and community forums.

Experience in relationship-building with the ability to work across sectors, including government, nonprofits, and community-based organizations.

Ability to translate complex policy issues into materials for varied audiences.

Familiarity with public sector programs, data equity initiatives, or community-based research.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work collaboratively across sectors, especially with government agencies, community organizations, and consultants.

Experience in community engagement with historically underrepresented or marginalized groups, especially LGBTQIA2S+ communities.

Experience contributing to or managing research projects, including data collection, analysis, or translating findings for non-technical audiences.
