Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI):
The School is nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence and best practices in educating children and young adults who are blind or have low vision. The School is a critical resource for Indiana's children who are blind or have low vision and the teachers, parents, and caregivers who work with them. Every year, we educate hundreds of children and young adults ranging from 3 to 22 years old and living in all parts of Indiana, many of whom, due to severe or multiple disabilities, other schools in the state have difficulty serving or cannot serve.
About the Indiana Educational Resource Center (IERC):
The Indiana Educational Resource Center is a centralized statewide repository for Accessible Education Materials (AEM) for school-age students who are blind, visually impaired, or have other documented print disabilities. The IERC provides digital files, braille, and large-print instructional materials, and specialized aids and equipment designed for students with visual impairments. All materials are loaned at no cost to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) for eligible students, and the IERC fulfills requests submitted by designated Digital Rights Managers (DRMs) at no charge.
In addition to serving as the state's primary depository for AEM, the IERC administers the Braille Project and the Miami Accessible Media Project (MAMP), the latter located within the Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill, Indiana.
Role Overview:
The Accessible Materials Librarian assists digital rights managers, teachers, and Local Education Agencies when ordering materials. You will also assist with registering students for the Federal Quota Registration Program and will be an authorized user for the American Printing House for the Blind and the National Instructional Materials Access Center. Key areas of focus are procurement, cataloging, inventory, reports, and fullfillment and distribution of accessible materials.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $53,222 but may be commensurate with education and job experience.

A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
Provide leadership in developing informational resources, programs, policies and guide the use of the Indiana State Library's collections by recommending appropriate materials and resources to federal, state and local government agencies, elected officials, visually impaired residents of Indiana, as well as the general public.
Participate and direct development, acquisition and processing of electronic databases and print resources.
Develop, acquire, and enhance access to paper-based and born-digital collections and publications, as well as audio-visual materials.
Provide consultative services in specialized areas to personnel and governing bodies in all @types of libraries regarding information services, management, public relations, library material acquisitions, programs, personnel, automation, long-range planning, network services and evaluation of services.
Act as liaison with federal and state programs and their officials involved with the development, implementation, and performance of service within Indiana State Library.
Assist in identifying and analyzing specialized research databases.
Ensure conformity to Indiana State Library Collection Development Policy and federal and state standards for specialized library services and cooperative programs.
Assist management with short and long-term planning for library services.
Write content for agency social media accounts, as well as articles for state and national newsletters and journals upon request.
Give presentations to groups and organizations.
Develop and teach ongoing workshops and classes as determined appropriate to meet the needs of the public, like-minded organizations, and institutions, and/or regional libraries.
Prepare reports which assist management in understanding the current conditions of performance, future trends in the field of library science and needed changes including guidelines and procedures.
Participate in professional development activities.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
Credentials:
Master of Library Science degree.
One year of Librarian experience.
Expertise in integrated library systems such as Evergreen Indiana and other library management software.
LC3 Certification by the Indiana State Library and Historical Board within six months of being hired.
Additional qualifications:
Broad knowledge of the Indiana State Library and other library systems.
Specialized knowledge and awareness of Indiana State Library Collection Development Policy.
Ability to analyze, evaluate and prioritize materials for digitization based on accuracy, usability and budget authority, scope, treatment, arrangement, format, and usability.
Mastery of applicable federal and state standards for specialized library services and cooperative programs.
Broad knowledge of specialized conservation and preservation techniques and how to apply them.
Specialized knowledge in subject areas and information retrieval, especially electronic mediums.
Ability to remain current in technological advances and in library sciences.
Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
