Summary You will serve as an ELECTRICAL ENGINEER in the Machinery Integration and Control Systems Division of the Marine Engineering Group (SEA05Z) of NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT. Responsibilities You will serve as the Controls and Monitoring Systems Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for electrical analysis and design of Naval ships. You will perform special studies and will participate in special project teams located in any part of the Naval Sea Systems Command. You will consult with Ship Design Managers, Program Managers, Technical Warrant Holders, Deputy Warranting Officers, Chief Engineer (CHENG), Program Executive Office (PEO) staff and other top officials. You will evaluate the latest development of Controls and Monitoring Systems in the field into technical plans, proposals or specifications governing subsequent systems design, development, production, procurement, or utilization. You will advise Fleet, SECNAV, OPNAV, NAVSEA, and field activities on difficult or controversial matters, such as modifying systems to meet new, demanding performance requirements. You will advise on application of new technologies in thermodynamics, electrical and other physical, mathematical and engineering sciences to problems concerned with the production, transmission, measurement and control of energy. You will plan investigations, risk assessments, analyses and design modifications of subsystems and new equipment. You will develop electrical engineering guidelines for command headquarters and for field activities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-03 (GS-13 Equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Professional Engineer analyzing and developing the design, operation or maintenance of naval shipboard controls and monitoring systems. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Additional Information This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-4 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15. Salary is capped at GS-15, Step 5 ($191,850). If your current salary is above this amount, your salary may be matched.
