Summary You will serve as an Interdisciplinary (Physical Scientist/ Geophysicist / Oceanographer) in the Operations Department of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. Responsibilities You will serve as the operations project manager for all surveys within assigned Commanders' Area of Responsibility (AOR). You will determine the legality and implications of surveying in any AOR, manages and schedules ships, aircraft, and obtains all approvals required for conducting these operations. You will provide formal technical and administrative guidance to the Detachments You will advise Operations Officer of findings and recommends system improvements and corrections for deficiencies. You will monitor daily message traffic from the Detachments and ships; attends operations meetings, briefings and reviews pertinent documentation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications (For GS-13) In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Resume must demonstrate the following specialized experience: Experience in the development of ocean environmental products, effectively communicating all phases of the process-from the application of hydrographic and geophysical techniques for data collection and processing to recommendations for technological improvements. Experience managing production efforts, including the planning and execution of projects, tracking resource utilization, schedule, and performance, and providing detailed reports and presentations on program status. Experience providing supervisory field leadership as the Senior Representative (SNR) during survey operations, directing the work of a team for temporary periods. Oceanography Series 1360 Basic Requirements: Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences. or Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
