Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Carrier Suitability Department of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Three (VX-23) of NAVTESTWINGLANT NWCF. Responsibilities You will complete installation of electrical and electronic control systems for the operation of Catapult and Recovery systems, including the Visual Landing Aids (VLA) equipment. You will research requirements as needed prior to installation and be responsible for final checkout and testing of electrical control systems installed at the test sites. You will provide technical advice to engineers concerning any service changes or modifications relating to suitable substitutes for various components. You will perform as a facility specialist, which duties include the application of knowledge, practices, principles, theories, concepts, methods and techniques for one or more disciplines within the field. You will install, maintain, repair, and modify equipment such as boilers, feed pumps. fuel oil heaters, and other auxiliary equipment. You will design and set up jigs and fixtures to secure parts in proper alignment for welding. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.) Knowledge of catapult, boiler, and MK-7 arresting gear systems. Installs, maintains, repairs, and modifies equipment such as boilers, feed pumps, fuel oil heaters, and other auxiliary equipment. Must have experience in completing annual overhaul and inspection of three high pressure boilers. Repairs and maintains boiler controls by cleaning, repairing, replacing or adjusting components such as mercury tubes, relays, timer switches, points, contacts, solenoid valves, and electronic components of the control equipment. Performs boiler operations during equipment certification, and catapult aircraft testing and evaluations. 2. Knowledge of visual landing aids (VLA) equipment, such as Improved Fresnel landing operating System (IFLOS), Fresnel landing operating System (FLOLS) and proto@type VLA equipment. 3. Installing, repairing complex heating systems, components, controls and auxiliary equipment such as: Steam pressure reducing stations, feed water controls system, and continuous blow off systems. Maintain feed water, boiler water controls while inducing chemicals and compounds into the water system.
