Position Overview
Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Horn. This position involves teaching applied horn lessons to undergraduate students (freshman through senior levels), with a teaching load of up to 15 weekly applied lessons, depending on studio needs and enrollment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach weekly applied horn lessons for music majors, minors, and non-majors at all proficiency levels.
Mentor and advise students regarding academic progress, performance development, and professional goals.
Collaborate closely with the horn studio professor and music faculty.
Depending on availability and departmental needs:
Co-direct horn chamber ensembles
Lead Freshman Warm-Up class
Co-teach horn masterclasses
Teach one 8-week Horn Methods course as assigned.
Maintain scheduled Student Success hours in accordance with university policies.
Perform additional instructional or service duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in music (or a closely related field) from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in music.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching applied horn lessons at the collegiate level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong foundation in horn pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
Comprehensive knowledge of horn literature, including etudes, orchestral excerpts, solo, and chamber repertoire.
Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to student success and retention.

Additional Information
A federal proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Texas A&M University-Kingsville will not pay this fee.
