This position requires an employee to be onsite at 3200 Labore Rd, Ste 104, Vadnais Heights, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

As the Utilization Reviewer, you will assess patient medical records upon admission and during continued stay for documentation that supports the need for treatment and services at the level of care provided, based on program specific criteria, and in accordance with federal and state regulations. The Utilization Reviewer will conduct on-site and electronic medical record reviews to support all DCT mental health, chemical health, and forensic programs across Minnesota and review all patients regardless of payment source. This position will obtain insurer and payer authorizations for treatment, where applicable, and facilitate notification of the treatment team and person receiving services, when further treatment does not meet continued stay criteria.
Primary responsibilities:
Conduct electronic admission and medical record reviews to assess level of care and program service needs.
Participate in data collection and analysis of utilization management information.
Coordinate utilization review activities with program's billing processes.
Participate in development and implementation of utilization management training efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all the minimum qualifications listed below. One (1) year of experience in health care utilization review that demonstrates the following:
Experience in health insurance and/or billing.
Experience with admission reviews and continued stay reviews.
Data collection and analysis using computer systems and applications.
Collaborating with third-party payers and service providers
OR
Three (3) years administrative support experience in health care utilization review that demonstrates the following:
Experience in health insurance and/or billing.
Process and enter verified data using computer systems and applications.
Support and communicate data in a clear and concise manner.
Support in the completion of admission reviews and continued stay reviews.
Collaborating with third-party payers and service providers.
Note: A bachelor's degree in psychology, business management, healthcare administration, nursing or related field may substitute for 1 year of advanced technical or paraprofessional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychology, business management, healthcare administration, nursing, or related field.
Experience with care delivery in a behavioral health facility.
