SUMMARY
The Athletics Department at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications to establish a pool of candidates to fill potential part-time Assistant Coach openings across various sports program. SUNY Brockport Athletics is comprised of 24 sports and is an NCAA Division III program and a member of the EMPIRE 8 and NCGA conferences.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions:
As an Assistant Coach, you will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the NCAA Division III program for your respective sport, provide an excellent student-athlete experience, and maintain a competitive standing within the EMPIRE 8 Conference.
Additionally, in this role you will:
Coach athletes during practice sessions and competitions
Schedule games and practice preparations
Complete player evaluations
Develop game plans
Recruit academically admissible student-athletes to the University and maintain a roster
Participate in fundraising for the Athletic Department
Seve as a represent of the sports program and the department both internally and externally
Assist with team schedules and team travel
Assist with supervision of all student-athletes while away on intercollegiate trips
Keep abreast of and comply with the NCAA rules and regulations.
Correspond with the athletic administration and support staff
REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university, or job-related work experience
Ability to work in a diverse population and commitment to creating an inclusive environment
Effective communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of one year of experience coaching at an intercollegiate level

Work Schedule:
Rotating schedule with weekdays, some evening and weekend hours are required.

Medical
SUNY Brockport is committed to providing affordable, comprehensive health plan options for faculty, and staff. There is a 28 calendar day waiting period for medical coverage to become effective.
Part-time professional employees must work at least half-time and be appointed for at least three months, to be eligible.
Part-time academic employees, such as Adjunct Lecturers, must teach six (6) or more credits (or equivalent) to be eligible for health insurance. These employees will receive 13 pay periods of coverage for each eligible semester. Part-time academics, whose professional obligation is primarily teaching classes, may establish eligibility for health insurance for each individual semester by counting credits (or equivalent) worked at multiple state-operated campuses

Retirement
NYS Employees' Retirement System (ERS) and NYS Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) - Defined benefit plans; benefits are based on best Final Average Salary and years of service.
SUNY Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) - Defined contribution plan; benefits are based on the employer and employee contributions and the success of the investments. Employer contribution is 8% of salary for first seven years of service, 10% thereafter.
Membership is optional for part-time and temporary employees, except that appointees who have current membership in one of these plans must continue to participate, if eligible. All part-time employees are eligible for ERS. Part-time employees in faculty, librarian, or coach titles are also eligible for TRS; part-time employees with term, as opposed to temporary, appointments are also eligible for the ORP.
