*_ _This position requires occasional in-person meetings and trainings at the Lafayette Building in St. Paul, Minnesota. Occasional in-state travel may be required and is expected up to 10 percent of the position's time.
As the Communications Coordinator, you will support DCYF by helping manage digital communications and coordinate outreach activities across the agency. Working closely with the DCYF Communications team and program areas, this position develops and publishes content across communication channels and helps coordinate communications projects that share information about DCYF programs, services, and initiatives.
Through this work, the Communications Coordinator helps ensure department communications are timely, accessible, and aligned with agency messaging standards while supporting DCYF's mission to improve outcomes for children, youth, and families across Minnesota.
Responsibilities include:
Manage and support the department's digital communications, including email outreach, social media, and website content, by drafting, editing, formatting, and publishing content while maintaining publishing schedules and monitoring engagement metrics.
Manage the department's social media accounts by developing and publishing content, coordinating posts with program areas and communications staff, monitoring activity, responding to routine inquiries, and tracking engagement trends.
Coordinate communications projects by working with program teams to support outreach activities, helping develop messaging and materials, and tracking timelines and deliverables for communications products.
Provide communications support across the department by assisting with website updates, drafting and editing materials such as fact sheets and reports, supporting events and announcements, and participating in communications team planning and coordination activities.
Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years of experience creating, implementing, and coordinating communication projects and initiatives across a wide range of mediums.
Experience must clearly demonstrate the following:
Experience developing and publishing content for digital communication platforms such as email communications, social media, or websites.
Experience coordinating communications projects or initiatives, including managing timelines, deliverables, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

Experience using digital communications tools, including email platforms, content management systems, and social media management tools, to publish and manage content.

Demonstrated commitment to accessibility, equity, and inclusive communication practices, including applying Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Knowledge of communications or public relations principles and practices.
*A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of plain language standards anddigital accessibility practices aligned with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and State of Minnesota digital accessibility standards for public communications.
Experience managing or publishing content on social media platforms, including coordinating content calendars and using social media management tools to schedule, monitor, and publish content across multiple platforms.
Experience working with digital communications tools such as email communication platforms or web content management systems.
Experience reviewing engagement or performance data from communications platforms and using insights to improve communications efforts.
Experience creating clear and accessible communication materials such as website content, one-pagers, fact sheets, social media content, or newsletters and recurring email communications.
Experience working in communications within a large or complex organization.
Variety of experience working effectively with others from different backgrounds and/or cultures.¿
