Summary You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST in the NAVY TALENT ACQUISITION GROUPS (NTAGS) of NRD CHICAGO. Responsibilities You will provide technical oversight to military and civilian personnel on microcomputer operations, software applications and automated system security. You will analyze, evaluate and monitor current microcomputer configuration to determine enhancements, upgrades and modifications needed to improve performance and production and reduce costs. You will prepare all required documentation for assigned area. You will provide customer assistance and/or training for assigned systems. You will be responsible for making sure connectivity to the Navy Marine Corps Internet (NMCI) exists for all personnel. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying information technology principles and practices to provide technical support to personnel; 2) Troubleshooting information technology problems and managing networks and computer systems; 3) Performing preventive maintenance of hardware to include installing and replacing hardware; and 4) Maintaining a current inventory database to include hardware and software systems. Your experience must reflect skill in the following four competency areas: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Reviewing data from multiple sources to determine relevant information for a given situation. Drafting, editing, and disseminating written reports and status updates that are factual, timely, and relatively error free. 2. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Developing and maintaining relationships with customers with diverse needs. Providing technical information about products and services. The degree must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; OR A degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
