Description

In this role, you will oversee critical financial processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards, particularly those established by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB). The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a detail-oriented mindset to manage audits, complex financial data, and reporting.

Responsibilities:

Lead the preparation and coordination of external audits, including gathering materials, responding to inquiries, and serving as the primary liaison with the audit committee.

Manage month-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of journal entries and reconciliations.

Oversee the general ledger, maintaining its accuracy and ensuring proper linkage between complex financial worksheets.

Utilize advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and VLOOKUP functions, to analyze and manage extensive financial data.

Ensure compliance with GASB standards and provide expertise in government accounting practices.

Reconcile accounts and bank statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.

Develop and maintain detailed financial reports to support organizational decision-making.

Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes and enhance efficiency.

Monitor and maintain accurate records for all accounting transactions.

Provide leadership and guidance to support the audit committee's objectives.

Requirements

Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience with a focus on detail; industry background is flexible.

In-depth knowledge of Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles.

Proven experience in managing external audits and serving as a lead liaison for audit committees.

Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.

Strong expertise in general ledger management and month-end close processes.

Ability to perform account and bank reconciliations with precision and efficiency.

Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail when working with complex financial data.

Effective communication and leadership abilities to interact with auditors, committees, and internal teams.
