Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Biddeford, Maine. This Contract position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a respected university. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise and a commitment to accuracy while managing daily financial activities and records.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records for the university.

Input financial data into the system, ensuring all transactions are recorded promptly and correctly.

Process and reconcile miscellaneous checks, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.

Manage and oversee daily transaction postings to the general ledger.

Maintain and update financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial data aligns with operational needs.

Conduct periodic reviews and audits of financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Support the implementation of best practices in accounting processes and procedures.

Requirements - Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a strong understanding of journal entries and general ledger management.

Proficiency in data input and financial transaction processing using accounting systems.

Ability to handle manual checks and ensure accurate reconciliation.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address discrepancies and maintain data integrity.

Familiarity with financial reporting and compliance standards.

Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
