Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods throughout operations, utilizing knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, equipment capabilities, and tooling/fixture design.
Key Results Areas:
Review process documentation to ensure customer requirements are met and develop documentation needed to verify and validate requirements.
Review standard production requirements by customer and industry to develop critical documents for production.
Write and review work instructions to ensure customer requirements are met and critical control points are defined.
Identify and validate lessons learned with Project Engineering group to drive continuous improvement.
Ensure that all lessons learned are incorporated into work instructions and drawings to ensure that the quality of the product and Graham - Batavia processes continually improve.
Determine processes that need to be outsourced and create instructions to ensure requirements are clear for the purchase order.
Work with project engineering and shop personnel to develop work holding and fixturing requirements for manufacturing.
Using Autodesk Inventor design work holding and fixturing equipment to ensure quality production components meet required contract drawing tolerances.
Develop documentation, order equipment and coordinate activities to ensure that schedules are met.
Research and identify equipment or tools needed to improve capacity and performance to ensure productivity improvements for the department.
Monitor equipment installations and repairs to ensure they meet requirements and stay on schedule.
Research and identify equipment software improvements to improve capacity and performance to ensure productivity improvements for the department.
Complete the purchase requisition for needed equipment and submit to Purchasing to ensure the project schedule can be met with suppliers lead times.
Review requirements, work instructions and drawings with lead machinist to ensure customer requirements can be met.
Perform necessary engineering duties as assigned to support department needs.
Verify and validate the production requirements of the product and ensure that the department capability metrics are achieved.
Evaluate processes that are yielding low quality and pull together a problem-solving team to improve quality. This may include but is not limited to the generation of in process work documentation, fixturing solutions, weld sequencing, or other quality documentation.
Assist in set-up of major components using CMM inspection equipment to ensure contract drawing requirements are met.
Monitor department consumables on key items and create purchase requisition when items are at the re-order point to ensure production schedules can be maintained.
Review production data against throughput and capacity data and raise resource issues to management.
Collaborate with all departments to ensure that information and data transfers effectively to meet customer needs and organizational objectives.
Collaborate with project engineering to ensure work instructions and drawings for production are released and accurate in order to properly meet customer requirements.
Collaborate with purchasing to ensure that parts and equipment needed to meet customer requirements are identified, ordered from an approved supplier and received per the schedule needs.
Collaborate with quality to validate requirements and disposition nonconforming parts.
Collaborate with planning/production to modify the schedule when maintenance and repair needs require equipment to be down.
Ensure safety of the employees and quality of the products throughout all processes.
Able to locate Quality Management System procedures, have read and understand relevant procedures and are aware of all procedural changes when they occur.
Follow all production procedures to drive quality outcomes.
Assist with root cause analysis to ensure that safety and quality problems properly evaluated and corrected.
Compliant with all safety procedures to ensure proper protective equipment usage to ensure personnel safety.
Continuously improve procedures, processes and methods to effectively meet customer needs and organizational objectives.
Identify and implement improvements in process and product relating to safety, quality, delivery and cost and elevates them to the Operations Manager.
Assist on continuous improvement teams to help drive department improvements.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.
Education and Training:
Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
Three years of manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Three years of lean manufacturing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Three years' experience with recognized quality systems (ISO, AS, QS, TS)
Working knowledge of metal machining, welding, and non-destructive testing processes.
Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning software.
Knowledge of configuration control in an ISO/AS environment.
Knowledge of ANSI Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
Preferred Experience:
Experience using 3D CAD/CAM software. Solidworks, and/or NCL desired
Other:
Must be willing to work overtime as required
Travel up to 10% of working time.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is primarily required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and bend. Required to speak and communicate clearly with others. Corrected vision to 20/20 or adequate and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Mental demands: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is required to read, write, analyze data and reports, exercise judgment, develop plans, procedures and goals, present information to others and work under pressure.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is exposed to high level of manufacturing and equipment noise. Duties are performed indoors in a manufacturing environment with temperature changes. Exposure to hazardous materials, fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts with vibration.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
Must be able to work in the U.S without sponsorship. Ability to obtain US government security clearance is required.
