At Sam's Club, we are member obsessed, people lead and tech powered. As a Senior Data Scientist on Sam's Club's Fulfillment Insights team, you will work on fulfillment strategy and the design and deployment of Agentic and Generative AI solutions that materially improve how orders are fulfilled, delivered, and optimized at enterprise scale. You will build and operationalize LLM-powered agentic systems that translate complex data into faster, smarter business decisions.
In this role, success is defined by your ability to turn ambiguous business problems into scalable AI-driven solutions, influence stakeholders through clear storytelling, and deliver measurable improvements in fulfillment speed, efficiency, and cost. You'll work at the intersection of advanced analytics, AI engineering, and business strategy-partnering closely with product, engineering, and operations leaders while mentoring junior data scientists.
What you'll do...
What You'll Do
Design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems that extend Sam's Club's GenAI capabilities across the E-Commerce Fulfillment ecosystem, including autonomous and multi-agent workflows used by the WMI enterprise.
Lead end-to-end data science initiatives, from sourcing and validating complex, multi-domain datasets to deploying production-ready models that drive measurable business outcomes.
Develop and operationalize predictive and generative models, leveraging advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and LLMs to improve fulfillment speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency.
Translate ambiguous business questions into analytical strategies, using SQL, Python, and cloud-based data platforms to uncover insights that inform executive and operational decision-making.
Perform advanced exploratory analysis and experimentation, including A/B testing and causal inference, to validate impact and guide strategic investments.
Tell compelling stories with data, creating Power BI dashboards and executive-ready narratives that clearly explain complex findings in plain language.
Partner cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to integrate AI solutions into scalable, production environments.
Mentor and elevate junior data scientists, setting best practices for modeling, coding, and analytical rigor while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
What You'll Bring Proven Performance & Experience
A 4-8-year track record of delivering high-impact data science or analytics solutions in a business environment.
(Preferable) Demonstrated experience building and applying LLM-based solutions in real-world business @contexts.
(Preferable) Hands-on experience designing or contributing to agentic or autonomous AI systems.
Technical Excellence
Advanced SQL expertise, including complex joins (5+ tables), window functions, and ranking functions.
Strong Python skills, with the ability to write reusable functions and production-quality code.
Experience with Generative AI, including autonomous and multi-agent workflows.
Solid foundation in predictive modeling, statistical analysis, A/B testing, and causal inference.
Proficiency with Power BI for insight generation and executive storytelling.
Experience working in cloud data environments such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Spark.
Business & Communication Strength
Comfort operating in business-facing roles, translating technical insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
Strong storytelling and stakeholder influence skills-able to "speak data" in layman's terms.
Ability to structure vague, complex problems into clear analytical and AI-driven solutions.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
