is a key IT compliance role responsible for defining, enforcing, and
maintaining IT standards, processes, and procedures to ensure the
protection and recovery of company data. This position partners closely
with ITS Information Security, Support, and Systems, along with
university colleges, departments, and functional areas, to develop,
maintain, document and execute compliance policies, processes, controls
and support related compliance tools. Duties and Responsibilities 1.
Evaluate new and existing technologies, systems, applications, or
services to identify compliance risks and recommend solutions that keep
data secure. 2. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of compliance
frameworks and how they apply to our university environment. Regularly
assess and enhance university governance, compliance, and risk (GRC )
tools to effectively support evolving regulatory frameworks, which
include testing new features, integrating stakeholder feedback, and
updating reporting capabilities. 3. Build a culture of policy
compliance: educating campus stakeholders about federal, state, and
local regulations, as well as university policies, IT policies, and
higher education standards. Monitor adherence and develop remediation
plans when gaps are found. Lead an annual review for all IT compliance
policies, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure policies remain
current, effective, and aligned with university and regulatory
requirements. Document changes and communicate updates to all relevant
parties. 4. Ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of
university information through ad-hoc reporting to leadership teams
regarding the effectiveness of compliance controls and actionable
recommendations informed by data from multiple sources. 5. Provide
supervision and mentorship for direct IT compliance reports ensuring
team members are equipped with up-to-date knowledge of GRC requirements
and support their ongoing growth through development opportunities.
Supervision will also include onboarding, training, and performance
evaluations. 6. Assist in overseeing the university third-party risk
management program, consisting of conducting vendor risk assessments,
contract reviews, audits, and addressing identified concerns with
vendors. 7. Create and maintain standards and processes for disaster
recovery and business continuity, including backup and recovery
services. 8. Contribute to investigating, documenting, and reporting IT
compliance incidents, ensuring corrective measures are implemented to
prevent future issues. 9. Work closely with stakeholders to translate
technical concepts into clear guidance, assess and improve processes
continually, and foster collaborative relationships across campus to
ensure consensus building can occur. 10. Responsible for the supervision
of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming,
disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Bachelor\'s degree in
Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a
related field. Minimum of four years of experience. Strong knowledge of
IT governance frameworks, compliance regulations, and standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability
to lead projects and work in a cross-functional team environment.
Proficiency in risk assessment and mitigation strategies. Proven ability
to convey complex compliance concepts clearly to diverse audiences,
including building consensus and fostering cross-functional
collaboration to ensure adoption and alignment. Experience conducting
internal and external reviews, developing review programs, and
implementing process improvements to strengthen the compliance posture.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience in higher
education. Familiar with control frameworks that affect higher
education, such as HIPAA , FERPA , CJIS , Clery, NIST -800, PCI , or SCF
. Proven ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks related to IT
