The Assistant Director (AD) will support the daily operations of the Villanova School of Business (VSB) Center for Marketing and Consumer Insights (CMCI) by actively assisting in the development and implementation of programmatic, educational, and professional development opportunities driven by the Center. The AD will report to the Director of the Center with key responsibilities to include support of internal and external stakeholders such as students, staff, faculty, alumni and employers. Additionally, this role will lend support in achieving the strategic goals of the Center.
CMCI was established in 2014 to provide outstanding academic and professional development opportunities to Villanova students interested in cross-disciplinary marketing experiences with an emphasis on marketing insights/analytics. The Center supports faculty research and teaching and works to connect and mobilize the Villanova Marketing family tree through educational programs, thought leadership initiatives, and networking events with the intent to expand the horizons of a new generation of marketing leaders and generate vibrant conversations on issues facing the marketing industry.
Key responsibilities of the Assistant Director center around the execution of CMCI's programming, with specific emphasis on CMCI initiatives focused on entrepreneurship. This position is primarily responsible for operationalizing CMCI's: Student engagement, Student career exploration and experiential learning, Strategic initiatives, and Industry and network connections.
The AD will be responsible for supporting key internal and external stakeholders, critical marketing and communications functions including the Center webpage, managing Center membership (on-boarding, roll-off and directory) and supporting the overall budgeting activities.
The CMCI Assistant Director will be required to support occasional evening or weekend programs.
This individual should possess the ability to identify and develop solutions to problems and resolve unexpected issues independently with a high degree of professionalism in support of our stakeholders. Support all Center programming and initiatives and work closely with CMCI Director to support strategies, initiatives, program development and governance matters.
Coordinate existing programs and events, and under the leadership of the Director, develop, organize, and implement new CMCI programs and events including, but not limited to case competitions, professional development programs, networking programs, student treks, Speaker Series, virtual and in-person panels and board/council meetings in support of CMCI's strategic goals.
Manage all ongoing programmatic functions for CMCI, including the Villanova Venture Initiative (VVI), Marketing Mania, Consumer Insights Lab, etc.
Create and support the planning and execution of quarterly pitches from start-up companies for the VVI and develop new sales-focused programming to support CMCI's NovaSales initiative.
Monitor progress on all initiatives and report on outcomes.
Program Promotion
Represent CMCI at school and university-wide promotional and outreach events (e.g., Orientations, Open Houses, Networking Events, Student Activity Fairs), at professional conferences and with partner universities and program providers. In collaboration with VSB UCM, develop and update communication materials associated with CMCI initiatives including program websites, marketing materials and internal and external presentations.
Execute and participate in promotional activities designed to increase student participation in marketing programs.
Develop content and collect alumni and student perspectives to highlight on CMCI social media sites (LinkedIn, Instagram), newsletters, and other publications.
Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff across the University to advance CMCI initiatives. Support engagement and communications with the CMCI's Advisory Council and Executive Board.
Administration and Student Worker Management
With support from the Department and Center Administrator of Marketing and Business Law and CMCI, organize budget reports, process requests for payments, Consumer Insights Lab logistics, etc.
Track CMCI membership, manage renewal process, maintain membership directory and enable member engagement.
Hire, train and manage our student worker workforce to support important aspects of our program.
Tracking and Marketing Career and Internship Opportunities
Monitor HandShake and LinkedIn for marketing related positions as well as tracking opportunities sourced from alumni, donors, employers etc., marketing all opportunities and tracking applicants and successful candidates for both students and alumni.
Other
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as required including items beyond CMCI duties such as acting as an additional resource for Marketing faculty as well as collaborating with the Centers of Excellence, Clay/O'Donnell Center teams, VSB faculty, VSB Deans, University Advancement, VSB Graduate Office, and University Career Center (UCC) to develop partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications:Formal Education
Bachelor's degree
Minimum Work Experience
Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks, and knowledge of general office equipment.
Excellent time and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills: both oral and written.
