Description

: Oversees the graduate admission process from student inquiries through the distribution of admission reviews to graduate coordinators. Represents the University to the general public through scheduled presentations and assists with administrative duties in coordination of scheduling and hosting events sponsored by McAda Graduate School. Responsible for counseling prospective students and other interested persons to provide expert knowledge and advice on the university's admissions process. Travels, as needed, throughout the State of Texas for recruitment/retention of prospective MSU graduate students. Works independently to manage office procedures. Reports to the Dean of the McAda Graduate School.

Examples

: Implements recruitment activities for graduate students seeking admission to the university; assists in developing recruitment/marketing publications; schedules and coordinates recruitment events. Uses recruitment, retention, and graduation data to support recommendations for recruitment and graduate student activities and events. Assists faculty with targeted recruitment efforts.Acts as liaison with Information Systems and Webmaster staff to assist with the adaptation and implementation of technology. Responds to emails, mail, telephone calls and in-person meetings that require admissions guidance or counseling. Revises and updates all forms of publications, social media, and communication plans. Assists with specialized tasks involving implementation of on-campus recruitment activities and special events such as student orientation programs. Travels, as needed, for recruitment/retention of prospective MSU graduate students. Makes presentations to and works directly with the Graduate Student Association (GSA) to support program activities. Assists with supervision and training of Graduate Admissions Office personnel to include student assistants. Develops and maintains relationships local businesses and other community programs that impact recruitment. Assists in compiling reports; developing recruitment/marketing materials; and assists with training of other Admissions related-personnel. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience

: Progressive experience and training in a college environment, preferably in college admissions, school relations, and/or recruitment. Experience in enrollment management planning and technology strongly preferred.

Knowledge : Requires working understanding of university admission policies, regulations, and degree requirements. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, including business English, spelling, punctuation. Requires strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of various software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint and ability to generate appropriate reports from the recruitment database. Knowledge of and experience with graduate admissions management software preferred.

Education

: Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree is preferred and may be substituted for experience.

Additional Requirements

: Requires strong interpersonal skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects with meticulous attention to detail. Must be well organized. Able to work independently with little supervision. Must make a strong, positive representation of MSU and attract quality applicants to achieve enrollment goals. Must have the ability to speak effectively to groups and use technology in presentations. Must be a positive representative of MSU.

: Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required.

This position is designated as security sensitive (Mod) and requires a criminal background check. Position is designated as a Responsible Employee as outlined by Title IX. May serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
