ENGINEERING TECH - CONSTRUCTION FIELD INSPECTOR
BASED ON EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS THIS POSITION CAN BE HIRED AS A SR ENGINEERING TECH.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide technical support for engineering activities, prepare construction plans and specifications and assist the public. This is accomplished by performing intermediate drafting and calculations and basic design work; use of automated systems, research, gather and compile data, prepare reports, maintain project records, obtain and process survey data, inspect construction activities and other duties as requested.

Code Essential Functions
1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice
2 L Perform intermediate drafting and calculations in support of design activities; perform basic design work; accomplishes routine assignments; uses AutoCad, and other automated interactive programs. Complete drafting and design assignments by researching project records and utility maps, processing survey data, and performing calculations
3 L Prepare construction plans and specifications for construction projects such as streets, underground utilities and drainage structures. Prepare quantity summaries, gather and process survey field data and compile data for various studies; produce maps and drawings for public display; maintain project records and prepare reports.
4 L Perform additional duties as required to provide technical support to the Engineering Division.
5 M Perform construction inspection, serve on survey crew and prepare field notes; file and make copies; and compile and reproduce plan sets.

Vocational/ Educational Preparation Requires High school graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college

Communications Requirements Reads technical instructions, procedures manuals, and charts to solve practical problems such as assembly instruction for tools, routine office equipment operating instructions, and methods and procedures for investigations, and in drawing and layout work; composes routine reports and specialized reports, forms, and business letters, with proper format; speaks compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.
