ABOUT THE POSITION
The Clark County Department of Social Services is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Eligibility Worker I/II position. This position performs interviews, manages caseload assignments and verifies eligibility for various social service programs. This recruitment will be utilized to fill multiple vacancies.

Eligibility Worker I: $20.69 - $30.52 Hourly
Eligibility Worker II: $22.33 - $32.96 Hourly
The Eligibility Worker I is a training underfill position, upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Eligibility Worker II.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.
Human Resources reserves the right to call only the most qualified applicants to the selection process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Eligibility Worker I - Equivalent to graduation from high school AND two (2) years of full-time experience in secretarial or general office support work which has included dealing with the public. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Eligibility Worker II - In addition to the above, a minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience in interviewing clients, providing information and determining eligibility for various social service, medical or related programs.
All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Working Conditions: May be required to visit individual client residences. May be required to be bilingual in a language other than English.
Licenses and Certifications: Specified positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of appointment.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.
Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Interviews clients to obtain information, determine eligibility for various social service programs and assess the appropriateness of referral to other community assistance, medical or social service agencies.
Obtains and verifies income, asset insurance and related information; contacts employers, banks, social security, veterans' administration and other public and private sources as necessary.
Assists clients in completing applications; provides factual information regarding various program regulations and procedures; may act as an advocate for the client with other organizations.
Creates and maintains case files; maintains accurate documentation regarding all information received and actions taken.
Determines the need for specific @types of assistance, such as transportation, medical care, appliances for the disabled, senior companion or burial services.
Maintains accurate logs and complies records of work performed.
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
May make home visits to obtain and verify case information; prepares case notes of such home visits.
Enters client information into an automated database system.
Uses standard office equipment in the course of the work.
May drive a personal or County motor vehicle to make home visits.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Specified positions may require mobility to make home visits.
