Experience in accounting/finance and knowledge of/experience with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Demonstrated technical skills including software for data management, communication, and spreadsheets (Microsoft Office Suite highly preferred).
Experience with Deltek-CostPoint or other ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
Experience with federal government (DOE or similar) policies and procedures.

Ames Laboratory is seeking an Accountant II or III. This position will support the functional area (i.e., travel, accounts payable, payroll, property/fixed assets) within the Ames Laboratory Finance Office. The Accountant will perform professional accounting functions including development and preparation of specialized accounting reports and financial statements, review and analysis of accounting and financial transactions, and data collection and preparation of accounting schedules.
In addition to the duties listed above, the Accountant III level will be expected to be the lead for the team and perform financial management special assignments to support overall functions of the Ames Laboratory Finance Department.
The successful candidate will possess strong attention to detail and above average analytical and mathematical skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as the ability to interact with a diverse constituency of individuals are necessary for success in this position. This position will interact with individuals both within and external to the University campus. The ability to analyze and solve problems, and to develop new or improve existing procedures will be an important component of this position.
