Job Title: RodmanJob Description

This role involves assisting the designator in carrying the locating equipment to and from the job site and supporting the testhole foreman in documenting measure downs, utility sizes, and pavement thicknesses for test holes. The position also requires performing levels, completing level notes on exposed utilities before backfilling testholes, and ensuring the excavated testholes are backfilled, compacted, patched, cleaned, and restored daily.

Responsibilities

Assist the designator in transporting locating equipment to the job site.

Support the testhole foreman by taking pictures and documenting measurements for test holes.

Perform levels and complete level notes on exposed utilities prior to backfilling.

Backfill, compact, patch, clean, and restore excavated testholes daily.

Follow directions from the Party Chief with a focus on quality data collection.

Ensure safety, effectiveness, and compliance with contract documents and jurisdiction standards.

Essential Skills

Ability to follow directions and willingness to learn.

Basic mathematical calculations skills are preferred.

0-3 years of field experience.

High interest in surveying.

Experience with total station or AutoCAD is preferred but not required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Overtime is optional but available if desired.

Work Environment

This position reports to the Party Chief and Field Coordinator, ensuring survey tasks are performed safely, effectively, and in compliance with contract documents. The work involves significant fieldwork, primarily outdoors, and requires adherence to quality control protocols. Dress code and attire should be appropriate for outdoor and physical labor conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
