The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law has an exciting opportunity for an energetic self-starter to join the marketing and communications team as a Senior Marketing Specialist. The position supports the Marketing and Communications Department, which is part of the Office of External Relations at Maryland Carey Law. The Marketing and Communications Department builds recognition of the school's program of legal education, research, practice, and public service through an integrated communication and marketing plan. Staff in this office develop and implement initiatives for both internal and external audiences including advertising, marketing, website, social media, publications, media relations, videography and photography, crisis communications, email marketing, development and alumni communications, and internal communications. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications. PRIMARY DUTIES Support the crafting of and work to implement the vision and strategy for Maryland Carey Law's marketing efforts. Facilitate operations within the marketing function to support project specifications. Identify needs and develop communication strategies with marketing specifications including defined outcomes and deadlines. Consult with and provide expertise and guidance to faculty and staff within academic programs and other departments within the Law School. Collaborate with the school's programs, centers, faculty, and departments (including admissions, career development, alumni and development, and student services), and other initiatives on the development of marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, email marketing campaigns, and social media presence. Create, develop, and control content for the law school'swebsite. This includes developing web pages in the school's content management system, as well as writing and editing content for the homepage and interior pages. Manage the Law School'sbrandand communicate branding needs to internal and external audiences. Work to support the strategic planning for Maryland Carey Law by working collaboratively with video/photo, social media, academic, internal stakeholders, and external relations leadership teams to develop comprehensive communications and marketing approaches. May also work and manage relationships with outside vendors. Support the Director of Marketing and Communications in the development of benchmark criteria to track and evaluate the effectiveness of the school's marketing strategies. Develop systems to collect and maintain knowledge concerning the legal educational and professional markets as required by changing market conditions. Analyze market trends. Be cross-trained in marketing and communications platforms such as social media and email marketing programs to provide coverage and ongoing communications when fellow team members are absent. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree. Degree in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, or related field of study is preferred. EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or media, public, or client relations. OTHER: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: · Experience working with social media on behalf of an organization, email marketing platforms, website content management systems, customer relationship management platforms, and commonly used graphic design programs. · Experience working in higher education and/or the legal community.
