Description: The Software Engineer possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and leads high-impact assignments to install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, for a Government client. Functioning as a technical expert across multiple projects, the successful candidate will plan and oversee critical system maintenance, security, and cloud infrastructure (AWS) initiatives, and may supervise others. This role requires a minimum of 8 years of experience in system administration, though certifications or past work demonstrating equivalent expertise may be considered, with a proven ability to evaluate performance, recommend major changes, and lead significant technology deployments.

Software Engineer Job Duties:

Applies comprehensive knowledge across key tasks to install, configure, and maintain operating system workstations and servers, including web servers, supporting critical business processing requirements. Plans and leads major technology assignments involving software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages, ensuring optimal functionality. Evaluates system performance results and recommends major changes to monitoring and tuning strategies, ensuring consistently optimal application performance. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments, implementing and managing software solutions that safeguard workstation and server data integrity. Leads the planning and execution of data and media recoverability strategies, scheduling and performing regular system backups and database archive operations. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures for system maintenance, ensuring consistency and efficiency across teams and projects. Conducts comprehensive hardware and software audits of workstations and servers, ensuring strict compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. Plans and leads the management of cloud-based applications using AWS services (EC2, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB) to ensure scalability, performance, and security. Provides ongoing system maintenance and support, including leading incident response efforts and the strategic implementation of patches and updates to maintain system integrity and security. Functions as a technical expert in supporting development workflows and version control utilizing Atlassian tools like Bitbucket and Jira for effective software deployment and project tracking. Leverages comprehensive knowledge of Agile organizations using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe to plan and lead system-related initiatives. May supervise others while providing team-specific training, contributing to the growth and success of the team. Performs other duties as assigned Security Clearance Level: Secret Clearance (S) required, must be active on applying.

Experience Requirements: Minimum 5 years within software development, technology, engineering or related field. Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in computer science, computer engineering, or closely related field

Desired Skills/ Qualifications: Java, Agile software development, familiarity with Agile Scrum, excellent oral and written communication skills

Location: Remote, local to Clarksburg, WV preferred

Status: Full time

Schedule: Dayshift, Monday-Friday

Physical Requirements: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long durations of time. Also, must be able to continuously operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
