Accounting Clerk

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join a local government office in Pueblo, Colorado. This is a contract position that will require in-office work. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate records and ensuring smooth operations within the accounting department.

Responsibilities:

Perform high-volume data entry tasks to process and maintain records for local business accounts.

Review and resolve account discrepancies by cross-referencing documents and ensuring accuracy.

Post transactions to appropriate accounts and verify all supporting documentation is complete.

Communicate with vendors to confirm required documents are provided and accurate.

Manage incoming calls and provide exceptional customer service to address inquiries.

Organize and maintain physical and digital files to ensure accessibility and compliance.

Assist in updating and editing records to align with department requirements.

Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines and project goals are met. Requirements - Proficiency in data entry with a focus on accuracy and speed.

Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle inquiries professionally.

Experience managing multiple phone lines in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with filing systems and document organization.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct errors.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Previous experience in an accounting or administrative role preferred.
