Accounting Assistant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Bonita Springs, Florida. In this role, you will support our financial operations by performing a variety of accounting tasks such as maintaining records, processing transactions, and assisting with financial reporting. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced service industry environment while honing your accounting skills.

Responsibilities:

Process and record financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash deposits.

Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.

Review revenue collections to ensure alignment with budgets, ordinances, and contractual agreements.

Reconcile receipts to general and subsidiary ledgers across multiple departments.

Monitor departmental expenditures and generate monthly reports for utility usage and other costs.

Assist in the preparation and distribution of the annual budget and financial reports, including the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

Conduct financial analyses for capital improvement projects and maintain detailed project records.

Collaborate with various departments to gather and analyze financial data for revenue and expense projections.

Manage unclaimed property reporting in compliance with state regulations and maintain organized financial records. Requirements - Proficiency in accounting software systems and general accounting principles.

Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation processes.

Experience with preparing journal entries and financial reporting tasks.

Familiarity with GAAP accounting standards and guidelines.

Excellent organizational skills for managing records and documentation.

Ability to conduct financial analyses and prepare detailed reports.

Strong communication skills for interacting with departments and responding to inquiries.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all accounting tasks.
