Major Responsibilities

Under direct supervision, assist Blacksmiths in doing general blacksmith work.

Look after and attend a forge.

Wield a sledge or ball peen hammer and handle tongs.

Look after tools such as tongs, hammers and swedges.

Place and heat pieces to be worked.

Assist in the forging and shaping, manually or by power hammer or angle irons, bridle irons, tools, automobile parts or similar pieces of equipment.

Assist in the repair of iron parts of trucks, automobiles, carts, sweepers, enclosures and other equipment.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

Three (3) years of satisfactory, recent, full time paid experience as a Blacksmith's Helper; or

A satisfactory equivalent.

This position requires extraordinary physical effort.
