Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to provide litigation support for a busy civil defense/civil plaintiff practice in Downtown Denver. This is a Long-term Contract position (most candidates get converted within the first few months) suited for someone who can manage deadlines, coordinate legal documentation, and communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, and court personnel. The role offers a blend of administrative and case support responsibilities, with opportunities to contribute to trial preparation, filings, scheduling, and billing-related tasks in a fast-paced legal environment. This would also require full onsite attendance, so that is why they do offer some reimbursement for parking fees, bus fees, or taking the train!

Responsibilities:

Prepare, organize, and submit legal documents through electronic filing systems while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.

Draft and format initial versions of motions, discovery materials, and related court documents for attorney review and filing.

Coordinate logistics for expert witnesses, including scheduling for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial appearances.

Support attorneys with the assembly of materials needed for trial, mediation, and arbitration proceedings.

Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and external partners regarding case-related matters.

Manage calendars by arranging meetings, conference calls, depositions, court dates, and travel plans while tracking key deadlines.

Process payment requests and assist with client invoicing and billing coordination in accordance with firm procedures.

Maintain and organize case files and documents using legal technology and document management systems.

Provide additional administrative support as needed to help the litigation team meet critical deadlines and workload demands.

Requirements

At least 2-3+ years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, preferably in complex civil defense litigation.

High school diploma required; additional legal secretarial training, business education, or a paralegal certificate is strongly preferred.

Hands-on experience with civil litigation (or similar) support, including e-filing in Colorado (Required), document preparation, and docketing.

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel, along with Adobe Acrobat for document editing.

Ability to manage a high-volume workload with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading, grammar, and business correspondence.

Experience with calendaring, legal billing processes, and document management platforms such as iManage is highly preferred.

Background supporting matters related to workers' compensation, employment law, or construction law is a plus.
