Job Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer II develops and improves manufacturing methods, equipment, tooling, and processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and operational efficiency. This role serves as a technical partner to Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations, supporting both new product introduction and ongoing production.
The ideal candidate will have a strong electromechanical manufacturing background with hands-on experience supporting production equipment, tooling, and process improvement initiatives. They should be able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and drive Lean/Continuous Improvement efforts. Experience with CNC programming, automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment, and NPI, product validation, proto@type development, or product requalification activities is highly desirable.
Candidates from industries such as electronic components, relays, motors, machining, machine shops, aerospace, defense, or similar electromechanical manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply. Experience with SolidWorks and/or Creo is preferred, and a Six Sigma Green Belt is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills are essential for success in this role.
Job Requirements
Manufacturing Process & Equipment Engineering
Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, processes, and production techniques.
Investigate manufacturing issues that affect daily workflow, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Recommend improvements or redesigns to automated and semi-automated machinery, equipment, tooling, and processes to improve efficiency and product quality.
Assess equipment condition and maintenance costs, then initiate actions that improve reliability and reduce operating costs.
Plan and coordinate equipment trials, evaluate potential sources of supply, and recommend equipment needed for capacity or future expansion.
Create clear work instructions and provide technical training to operators on equipment, processes, and standard work.
Product, Tooling & Design Support
Support new product development and design-for-manufacturability activities through sample tooling, proto@types, and production-readiness reviews.
Design, develop, qualify, and document tooling and manufacturing processes in applicable TE systems.
Perform basic product and equipment design modifications, create detailed and assembly drawings, and support engineering change processes for existing products.
Create 3D models from 2D drawings and complete appropriate mechanical design calculations.
Build and test proto@types and standard products, analyze results, and prepare technical reports.
Organize and categorize existing parts and maintain accurate engineering documentation and prints.
Electronics, Controls & Validation
Coordinate feasibility studies and proto@type assemblies, and required quality documentation such as worst-case and thermal analyses, test specifications, and integration documentation.
Plan and execute functional, analyze failed parts, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Develop functional-safety concepts and define manufacturing requirements for process steps such as end-of-line teaching and calibration.
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Partner with Engineering and Quality to resolve production-processing issues and prevent recurrence.
Initiate and implement continuous-improvement actions that improve quality, cost, cycle time, and process capability.
Ensure tooling and processes meet applicable TE standards, customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety expectations.
Review plant safety committee recommendations and initiate appropriate actions.
Support Supply Chain in evaluating supplier compliance and manufacturing capability.
Project & Cross-Functional Leadership
Lead technical peer reviews and ensure designs and processes comply with established guidelines; contribute to guideline updates when needed.
Communicate project status, risks, performance, cost, customer requirements, and deliverable dates to relevant stakeholders.
Proactively identify and mitigate technical and execution risks on assigned projects.
Coordinate information across Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, suppliers, and subject-matter experts.
Support special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
What your background should look like
Education & Experience
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Design Engineering, Automation, or a related technical discipline.
· Minimum of two years of related manufacturing engineering experience.
· Green Belt preferred
Technical Skills
· Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD tools, including, SolidWorks, and Creo.
· Experience with electronic design-development tools, test fixtures, and simulation tools.
· Knowledge of CNC programming and troubleshooting is preferred.
· Experience working with mechanicalcomponent suppliers, and other technical vendors.
· Working knowledge of SAP or a comparable ERP system and Microsoft Office applications.
· Ability to perform mechanical design calculations, interpret engineering requirements, and prepare clear technical documentation.

COMPENSATION
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $92,800- $139,100 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
